Several area players signed contracts with NFL teams as undrafted free agents Monday.
Offensive lineman Josh Day, from Colorado State and Overland High School, signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Day was a three-year starter at CSU, playing tackle and guard.
Dustin Osborn, a wide receiver from CSU and La Junta, signed with the New York Jets. Osborn played in 10 games last season for the Rams, finishing with 26 catches for 397 yards and two touchdowns.
Osborn came to the Rams as a walk-on and earned a scholarship. He completed his CSU career with 78 receptions for 1,289 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Washington Redskins signed former Gateway High School star Zach Latimer, a linebacker from Oklahoma.
Latimer was a two-time all-state player at Gateway. He was selected the Class 4A defensive player of the year and Gatorade player of the year in Colorado as a prep senior.
Latimer had 84 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions his senior year at Oklahoma.
Wyoming’s Chase Johnson, an offensive tackle from Loveland, also signed with the Vikings.
A team captain and four-year starter for the Cowboys, the 6-foot-8, 325-pound Johnson made a start in 47 consecutive games. He was selected to the all-Mountain West Conference first team as a senior with the Cowboys, after being an all-state player at Loveland.
Wyoming’s Corey Mace, a defensive lineman, signed with the Buffalo Bills and former teammate Aaron Robbins, a defensive end, signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Robbins, who came to Wyoming after starring at Smoky Hill, missed most of the 2005 season because of a knee injury. He began his college career as a tight end and H-back, then switched to defense. The Steelers might look at him on offense.
Mace made 51 tackles for the Cowboys last season and was selected to the all-MWC second team.
