St. Anthony’s Hospital will continue to operate a Denver facility, even after it opens its new $498 million hospital in Lakewood.

The new hospital is slated to open in 2009, and the old hospital, at 4231 W. 16th Ave., will close in 2011.

But St. Anthony will maintain “some type of services” in Denver, hospital chief executive George Zara said today.

Zara said he isn’t sure what form that “continued presence” would take.

The new 311-bed hospital will be built on a 45-acre site on the former Federal Center property.
