Eighteen cadets will be disenrolled from the Air Force Academy and 13 will be placed on probation following a cheating investigation.

Forty freshman cadets were accused of cheating on a weekly knowledge test Jan. 31. Answers to the test were forwarded via the Internet to some members of the Class of 2010.

Initially, 29 cadets admitted to cheating, while five denied the allegation. It was found that six of the accused cadets did not cheat.

The cases of the cadets who did violate the honor code were forwarded to the Commandant of Cadets, Brig. Gen. Susan Y. Desjardins. In 13 cases, the cadets will be placed on six months’ probation and could return to the Academy. Desjardins recommended that 18 be disenrolled.

The honor code says that cadets “will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.”
