The Colorado Wildlife Commission will consider staff recommendations for total numbers of limited big game licenses for the 2007 season at its Thursday meeting in Grand Junction. The policy body will approve license numbers for deer, elk, pronghorn, bear and moose in the final part of a process designed to balance herds with scientific objectives. The meeting will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 755 Horizon Drive.
Guide operator charged
Gary R. Jordan, president of a school in Victor that teaches students to become guides, has been assessed $12,729 in fines for shooting a large bull elk without a license. The operator of Colorado Outdoor Adventure Guide School used an employee’s license to shoot the animal during muzzleloader season. Students at the school testified that they assisted in packing out the animal, which brought an added assessment under the state’s Sampson law. Jordan also was ordered to donate $2,000 to the Operation Game Thief program that awards payments to those who turn in poachers.
