GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
A former massage therapist in Grand Junction was ordered on Monday to serve 90 days in jail and 10 years to life on probation after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting some of his clients.
The sentencing of Mark Luttrall, 44, occurred more than three months after he entered his pleas to one count of sexual assault, a felony, and one count of unlawful sexual contact, a misdemeanor.
Eight other counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Police arrested Luttrall in October 2005 after three women alleged he had touched their pelvic areas or breasts while they were being treated at Ancient Arts Healing Therapies. Luttrall operated the business out of his home.
The charges were amended two months later when three more women made similar claims.
Two of the first three victims said Luttrall also asked them go drinking or dancing, tried to kiss them, or offered them alcohol. But some of Luttrall’s former clients wrote letters on his behalf, indicating he had never touched them inappropriately.
Another massage therapist and a physician wrote that breast and groin massage was consistent with methods to relieve pain on pressure points.
Luttrall had told authorities he believed he had spoken with the women about touching specific areas, and that he believed they had given their consent.
