Peter Chapman has been named executive director of Seedco Financial’s Denver office.
Chapman, a key economic development adviser to Mayor John Hickenlooper, has nearly 19 years of urban development experience. He also oversees city and quasi-municipal agencies such as the Office of Economic Development, the Denver Housing Authority and the Office of Cultural Affairs.
New York-based Seedco, a finance company specializing in loans to impoverished neighborhoods, is opening a Denver office in hopes of revitalizing some of the city’s most-ignored areas.
Neighborhoods that could benefit from the more than $17 million Seedco plans to invest over the next few years include Sun Valley, Lincoln Park, West Colfax and Five Points.
Seedco Financial is considering up to 15 local proposals with a total value of about $50 million for potential investments.
