DINOSAUR, Colo.-

A Utah resident’s petition to force a recall election for Mayor Freda Powell fell short of the required number of signatures, town officials said.

Dorothy Slaugh of Vernal, Utah, submitted 22 signatures, but Dinosaur Town Clerk Tamara Long said Tuesday that eight were disqualified because the signers were not registered voters or had listed incorrect addresses. That left the petition four names short of the 18 required.

Slaugh’s dispute with Dinosaur officials stems from their rejection of her attempt to bring a new business to the town, the Craig Daily Press reported.

Slaugh said she would not likely make another attempt at a recall.

Dinosaur is 200 miles west of Denver near the Colorado-Utah border.
