Diane Rossen Worthington

Some cookbooks are meant to decorate your shelves, much too precious to open up in the kitchen. But Diane Rossen Worthington’s books are meant to be splattered with tomato sauce. These aren’t just recipes for reading, they’re for making. The prolific teacher and writer, whose titles include “Seriously Simple” and “The New California Cook,” visits The Peppercorn in Boulder Saturday. | 1235 Pearl St., Boulder; 303-449-5847 | Tucker Shaw

Zengo

Richard Sandoval, the clever mind behind Zengo, La Sandía and Tamayo, keeps surprising diners, as with the launch of his summer menu highlighted by a ceviche blend of shrimp, green papaya and watermelon, and Zengo’s version of the volcano roll. Yeah, everybody and his brother has one these days, but check out the seared salmon atop a sushi roll filled with red crab, and finished with a splendid sesame-chipotle aioli. | 1610 Little Raven St., 720-904-0965 | Ellen Sweets

Green Fine Salad Co.

Hungry workers at the Broadway end of the 16th Street Mall have reason to rejoice now that this salad tosser-chopper has opened its second location. You choose from 11 “Signature Salads” or create your own with six kinds of lettuce and more than 70 additions. We liked the Bistro best, with its full- flavored blend of tuna, dark greens egg and kalamata olives. The other salads we tried – the Asian, Cobb and Caesar – all needed a bit more flavor. We asked for extra dressing, and that did it. Better underdressed than overdressed, we always say. | 110 16th St. (at Broadway), 1137 16th St. (at Arapahoe in Skyline Park) | Kristen Browning-Blas
