COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-

Two Colorado Springs high school students were under arrest and facing possible charges for allegedly making violent threats against their classmates, authorities said.

On Monday, a 16-year-old male student at Wasson High School told a girl that he was going to shoot her, then shoot up the rest of the building.

Another 16-year-old boy at Wasson made similar threats on May 3.

“He also said he’d come back and shoot up the school,” Colorado Springs police Sgt. Howard Black told The Gazette.

In both cases, classmates overheard the threats and notified school officials.

The boys were arrest on suspicion of menacing, and interfering with faculty, staff and students at a school.

The policy of Colorado Springs School District 11 is to send letters to parents when such threats occur, but no letters were sent in these cases.

District spokeswoman Elaine Naleski said it was not clear why that was not done.
