THE STORY LINE
Ah, this is the new Wings vs. Avalanche. At least in this instance, the video of past mayhem actually will involve players still with the teams, and it won’t come off as a lame stunt to build up something that no longer is there. But one of the keys in the series will be which team can best balance using the enmity as motivation while not allowing it to deflect its attention from the task at hand. This is a tossup, in part because the Senators are showing signs of having their game in high gear.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Sabres defenseman Brian Campbell
One of the most overlooked players in the NHL, he didn’t have a goal in the playoffs a year ago, but is now providing some production from the blue line.
