A Thornton man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run accident.

Police say the man was hit at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday morning on the 8700 block of North Pearl Streeet.

The victim, 46, has broken bones and head injuries.

He is in critical condition at St. Anthony’s Central Hospital, police say. His identity has not been released.

Witnesses say the man was hit by a speeding white 4-door Volvo with black trim. The car was badly damaged on the front end, and left its grill at the scene.

The Volvo was last seen heading west on 88th Avenue.
