Stand up for what you believe

Standing Women

1-1:05 p.m., wherever you are, or at Fickel Park on Mountain Avenue in Berthoud or Benson Park Sculpture Garden on 29th Street in Loveland, and other locations across Colorado.

In case you forgot – or never knew – Mother’s Day was originally dreamed up as a day when women might gather and think about ways to bring about peace. This year like no other in a long time might be a good one to take up the charge again. Women and girls and the men and boys in their lives are asked to stand, wherever they are, for 5 minutes beginning at 1 p.m. local time. During that period, participants are asked to envision a healthier, more peaceful world and how they might work to achieve it. You can stand alone, or visit standingwomen.org and click on “Where others are standing” to find out where you can join a group. (As of Friday, there were 2,806 events listed in 72 nations.)
