The folks at All-American Rolling Shutters in Lakewood are taking blinds and insulation to a whole new, unique level.
Instead of affixing blinds inside of windows, these rolling shutters are installed on the outside of a home to completely block sunlight and air. They also lock down to provide an additional layer of security, says co-owner Steve Campbell.
The shutters can be pulled down manually, or electronically with a wall button or remote control.
There are other companies that offer similar types of rolling shutters, but the original concept came from Germany. “They’re huge in Europe,” Campbell said. “The original impetus behind it was energy conservation and light control.”
The company, with three employees, also caters to businesses that want to secure their windows, Campbell said. Golf courses, looking to protect area windows from flying objects, are also customers.
Installation for manual rolling shutters starts at $800. Electronic shutters start at $1,600.
