Colorado State junior forward Jason Smith was invited to the NBA predraft camp in Orlando, Fla., in June, but two NBA executives said they would be surprised if he attended since his stock is rising.
One of the executives said teams projected to draft as high as mid-lottery are interesting in working out the 7-foot, 240-pound Smith. Both executives said they don’t expect Smith to be available late in the draft, and they don’t expect him to return to school.
The Kersey native has been working out in Fort Collins with a trainer and completed his finals last week at CSU.
“If he has 20 teams working him out in the first round, someone is going to take him,” one NBA executive said.
Another NBA executive said: “I’d be shocked if he went to Orlando” for the camp.
