Denver Outlaws coach Jim Beardmore reduced his roster to the Major League Lacrosse maximum 23 players Monday, cutting four players and designating three others for the practice squad. Vail resident Neal Anderson, a midfielder; former University of Northern Colorado club player Alan Smith Jr., a defenseman; and attackman Nick Carlson were placed on the practice squad. Midfielder Paul Gillette, defensemen Ted Turnblacer and Matt Nader and attackman Jameson Mullen were cut.
Bad weather postpones Open qualifier
Monday’s U.S. Open local qualifier at the 7,200-yard Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo was postponed because of thunderstorms and lightning strikes, the Colorado Golf Association said. It will be completed today.
Fox, Abby Waner earn USA Basketball invites
Former ThunderRidge standouts Emily Fox of Minnesota and Abby Waner of Duke were among the 45 players who received invitations to the USA Basketball women’s national team trials, which will be held Thursday through Sunday at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
