Creede Fine Arts Celebration

The Taste of Creede Fine Arts Celebration will be Memorial Day Weekend. Events include artists’ demonstrations, a “Quick Draw” competition, a fine art auction, live music, food-tasting booths, a “Silver Chef” cooking competition, gallery and studio walks, free tours of the Creede Repertory Theater and a children’s area.

Local artists and invited guests will set up areas along Main Street to display their artistic techniques. Demonstrations are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. May 27. Fine-art exhibits will be in the Chamber of Commerce office, displaying participating artists’ work.

The third annual “Silver Chef” cooking competition will be held Saturday afternoon. Contestants each will be given 45 minutes, the same ingredients and the same equipment. There will be one category for professional chefs and another for amateur chefs. A Memorial Day/Flag Day Commemorative Service, created by the Creede Elks Lodge No. 506 and the Creede Chamber Office, will be at 10 a.m. May 28 at Basham Park. Chili Pepper, Brew Fest lineup

Snowmass Village announces its full line up for the Chili Pepper and Brew Fest June 8-10. More than 40 microbreweries compete in the professionally judged Best Summer Ale competition. Musicians include Sweet Sunny South; the Del McCoury Band; the David Grisman Quintet; the Spencer Durham Group; Papa Mali; Ziggy Marley; and local musician Smokin’ Joe Kelly.

The International Chili Society’s Front Range District Chili Cook Off and Tasting will be June 8; The ninth annual Hot Times Regional Championship features prestigious regional ICS cook-offs in Chili Red, Chili Verde and Salsa on June 9; Local aficionados will feature their chilis during the People’s Choice Chili competition June 10.

Tickets are $15 on June 8, or $20 on June 9 for a Festival Pass, which includes access to the outdoor concerts on Fanny Hill, and food, beer and wine concessionaires. For $25 on June 8 and $30 on June 9, a “Party Pass” for ages 21 and older allows unlimited access to the microbrew tastings and chili samplings. A $50 weekend Party Pass is available, as well.
