Houston – New England scored an early goal as the Revolution defeated the Houston Dynamo 1-0.
The defending Major League Soccer champion Dynamo slipped to 2-4-1 by losing for the fourth time in the past five games. Houston didn’t lose its fourth game until July 26 last season.
The Revolution, which leads the Eastern Conference, improved to 5-1-2.
Houston and New England played three 1-1 ties last season, including in the MLS playoffs when Houston advanced on a shootout.
The Revolution went ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute on an unassisted goal by midfielder Shalrie Joseph from 15 yards. It was the only shot New England took in the first half.
RED BULLS 4, CREW 0 at East Rutherford, N.J.: New York’s Juan Pablo Angel scored a goal and added two assists in his second MLS game.
Angel, a 31-year-old from Colombia who starred for Aston Villa in the English Premier League before signing with the Red Bulls last month as a designated player, scored off a steal in the 61st minute.
D.C. UNITED 2, TORONTO FC 1 at Toronto: Jaime Moreno scored his league record-tying 108th goal on a 79th-minute penalty kick, and D.C. United rallied to defeat Toronto FC.
