PUEBLO, Colo.-
The Limon girls track squad captured a fourth consecutive Class 2A state track and field championship Saturday at Dutch Clark Stadium.
“This was a situation where everybody just pulled together,” said Limon girls track coach David Grimes, in his 14th season. “Before the season, I would have said that we had no real superstars on this team, but they are superstars to me.”
Limon won two relays and finished with 55 points to hold off Akron, which scored 43 points.
Shaylee Robinette won three individual events to lead Crowley County to a third-place finish for the team title with 40 points. Robinette won at 100, 200 and 400 meters.
On the boys side, Wiggins won its first state track and field championship in school history with 62 points. Dayspring Christian was second with 49 points.
