A man suspected of being the “Family Man Bandit,” a robber who tells his victims that he is stealing to feed his family, has been captured by Aurora police.

Denny Dewey Brown, 32, was arrested Monday night at East Mexico Avenue and South Buckley Road, police said Tuesday. Investigators say he may be linked to 12 robberies.

Brown was being held on $50,000 bail at the Aurora Detention Center in connection with an attempted robbery Monday at the Diamond Shamrock gas station in the 2100 block of South Peoria Street, authorities said.

Prosecutors expect to present evidence against Brown in several other robberies, Aurora police said.

The robberies began on Feb. 2. No one was injured in any of the incidents.
