BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.-

A Breckenridge lawyer reported missing by his friends who police later said may have stolen as much as $1 million from his clients was suspended Friday from practicing law by the Colorado Supreme Court.

Royal “Scoop” Daniel, 61, last seen April 27 and was reported missing after he failed to show up for appointments, prompting both authorities and friends to launch searches for him.

Seven people subsequently called to report Daniel may have stolen thousands of dollars from them.

Police said Daniel’s bank account contained only $230,000 but deposits from some of his clients alone totaled about $562,000.
