BEAUCOUP AWARD WINNERS: Colorado’s chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers recently hosted 450 people at Denver’s Donald Seawell Ballroom for its ninth annual Interior Design Awards highlighting local excellence in commercial and residential decor. Nineteen winners and 27 honorable mentions, picked from more than 150 entries, reflect an increased interest in progressive design, according to ASID Colorado president Sandy Nienaber of Waring & Associates. THESE KITCHENS REALLY COOK: This is the ninth year of Boulder’s annual self-guided “Kitchens on Fire” tour, a fundraiser for The Dairy Center for the Arts. AFRICAN FAMILY STYLE: Women in Zambia weave Makenge baskets for weddings and special occasions – a skill they pass down from one generation to the next. Each basket incorporates symbolic colors and patterns that reflect family and community stories.
