BOULDER, Colo.-

A 2-year-old boy was in good condition Wednesday after he was bitten by a rattlesnake while hiking with his parents in the foothills west of Boulder, authorities said.

Tristan Blubaugh was bitten in the calf by a small rattlesnake on Tuesday, said Jeff Forster of the Rocky Mountain Fire Authority.

Tristan’s father carried him down the trail to a waiting ambulance, Forster said.

The boy was taken to a Boulder hospital before he was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Denver, where he was being treated Wednesday.
