At least it’s not by sticky note
I hate to do this by e-mail. Face-to-face always is better. But I need to say something now. I am afraid I can’t see you anymore.
I need to break up with the Rockies. I thought that I was patient and strong enough to see you through all of the hard times. But I am not.
When I look around and see the relationship that other fans have with their teams, I am jealous. I know that’s wrong, but I need more. I need some highs to counter the lows, and I just don’t feel there have been enough highs.
I know you have done your best. You’re great. You really are. I just think it’s time to move on. You’ll find someone great. I know it. But I need something more. I’ve actually been thinking about the Dodgers a lot lately. That just shows this is the right time to end this.
I would never want to cheat on you. I have always been a one-team guy. I hope you can see this as a positive thing.
I wish you all the best and success. You’ve had some very rough times. You deserve success. I just can’t be there with you when you find it. Maybe after some time, we can just be friends.
Well … goodbye.
