GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
Free ski days are coming back to Crested Butte.
Reinstating a program that ended in 2000, Crested Butte Mountain Resort plans to offer free days Nov. 25 to Dec. 15, not including the Thanksgiving holiday, no strings attached, spokeswoman April Prout said.
Prout said resort owners Tim and Diane Mueller decided to offer free skiing to show off two new chair lifts, new snowmaking and grooming equipment, and other improvements.
Free skiing originally was offered to bring business to the resort during a slow period, Prout said. “Then the former owners sold off hotels and lodging and it didn’t make sense because they had nothing new to show,” she said.
