Getting your player ready...

If nothing else, the Broncos’ practice today in an unforgiving wind provided good preparation for their Nov. 25 game at Chicago.

“I hate wind,” tight end Stephen Alexander said after stretching to catch a tailing pass from quarterback Jay Cutler. “I play a lot of golf, and when it gets like this, I go in. It’s tough because the ball was moving like 4 or 5 feet by the time it gets to you.

“But you can’t go into a game when it’s windy and say you can’t play, so it’s good to have it every once in a while in practice,” Alexander said.

Defensive lineman Kenard Lang joked that the nonstop wind was a benefit to rookie Jarvis Moss, the slender 6-foot-6 defensive lineman from Florida.

“He’s like a cartoon. He can turn to the side where the wind can just flow right past him,” Lang said of the 2007 first-round draft pick. “He’s got that natural aerodynamic body that everybody doesn’t know about. That’s how he can squeeze through the gaps between the guards and tackles, by being a real slender guy.”

The Broncos managed to complete a full practice, including interesting field-goal kicking drills.

“Sometimes, you’d see the ball going to the left goalpost and it goes it go wide right – almost to the parking lot,” Lang said.

The receivers were similarly entertained.

“It was a rough day,” tight end Daniel Graham said. “The ball is flying everywhere, making it hard to just concentrate on catching the ball.”
