The Broncos added more beef to the middle of their defensive line today by acquiring 325-pound tackle Jimmy Kennedy of the St. Louis Rams for a sixth-round pick in the 2008 draft, a source close to the situation said this morning.
The trade is expected to be formally announced later today.
Kennedy, a former first-round pick out of Penn State, started all 16 games for the Rams last year and had 39 tackles, including one sack.
The 27-year old is expected to play in a defensive tackle rotation with Sam Adams, Gerard Warren and rookie Marcus Thomas.
Adams, a 14-year veteran who weighs in at 345 pounds, signed Monday.
