Ron Vlosich of Lakewood shot an even-par 70 to earn the top spot in a U.S. Senior Open sectional qualifier Monday at the Broadmoor Golf Club’s East Course.
Vlosich will be joined by second-place finisher Robert Polk of Parker, who shot 71. Vlosich and Parker are scheduled to play in the U.S. Senior Open beginning July 5 at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Kohler, Wis.

* The University of Northern Colorado wrestling team hired former Middle Park standout Ben Cherrington to be its assistant coach, head coach Jack Maughan said. Cherrington was a three-time prep state champion, and a Division I national champion at Boise State at 157 pounds.
* The Versus cable network announced it will air the Wyoming football game in Laramie against Virginia on Sept. 1 at noon and the Air Force-New Mexico game in Albuquerque on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
