Denver – Denver-born political consultant Sky Gallegos has been appointed to a key executive position for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, working with elected officials and interest groups seeking limited convention seats and hotel rooms.

Gallegos, 38, will be the convention’s deputy chief executive for intergovernmental affairs. Democratic national chairman Howard Dean appointed Gallegos to the job Monday.

Gallegos will be one of five top executives for the convention, scheduled in Denver on Aug. 25-28, 2008.

Gallegos worked for the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs under President Clinton and was a member of his 1996 Inaugural Committee.

She was chief Western strategist for Vice President Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign and was California political director for Sen. John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign.

She later ran her own campaign consulting company, Hilltop Public Solutions.

“Sky’s extensive experience makes her a terrific asset,” Dean said.
