Belgian joining Wyoming basketball team

Wyoming wrapped up its recruiting season in men’s basketball by signing a 7-footer from Belgium who is one of Europe’s top junior players.

Mikhail Linskens is expected to play on Belgium’s 20-and-under national team this summer, according to Wyoming athletic department officials.

Linskens was one of his club team’s youngest players. He averaged nine points and five rebounds a game, hit 39 percent of his 3-point attempts and made 80 percent of his free throws.

“He’s a big, European and skilled guy,” coach Heath Schroyer said. “I’m really, really happy to get him.”

CC, DU players ranked high as NHL prospects

Colorado College’s Bill Sweat and the University of Denver’s Brock Trotter are ranked among the top 10 NCAA prospects eligible for the NHL entry draft, to be held June 22-23 in Columbus, Ohio, according to online magazine Hockey’s Future.

Sweat is ranked No. 1 among college players by the magazine. Trotter, who last season was the first freshman to lead DU in scoring since 1987, is ranked No. 7.
