COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A hiker found a partially decomposed body Friday morning in El Paso County, but it was unable to be immediately retrieved, authorities said.
Search teams were unable to recover the body when it was initially found near Cheyenne Canyon Road near St. Mary’s Falls, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Clif Northam said.
The body was in steep terrain about seven miles from the trail and parking area, Northam said. Northam was hopeful that the body could be recovered before nightfall.
It was unclear how the body got into canyon.
