Jason Smith, Colorado State’s leading scorer and rebounder the past two seasons, has hired an agent and will skip his final year of eligibility to enter the NBA draft, the school confirmed today.
Smith, a 7-foot forward, informed CSU coach Tim Miles of his decision to remain in the NBA draft selection process. He will be represented by Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports in Chicago.
“While the future of CSU Rams basketball is in great shape, I have spent the past three weeks working out and visiting with various NBA teams,” Smith said in a CSU release. “Based on the feedback and response I have received, the opportunity in front of me is one I cannot pass up.”
Smith, a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2006 and 2007, averaged 16.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game last season.
