A body was recovered at Chatfield Reservoir on Tuesday, after authorities searched for days for a swimmer who disappeared over the weekend.

The body was found around 9 a.m. near the dam on the north end of the reservoir.

An identity has not been released, but a local family has been waiting for news about Jose Luis “Pepe” Cano, 29.

Cano, considered a good swimmer, was in water below his chest when he was last seen Saturday morning.

He was with his boss, according to his sister-in-law, Christina Rodriguez. The men had been boating near the dam when the boss got out of the boat to use the restroom. He looked back and saw Cano in the water near the boat. When he returned, he saw Cano’s belongings in the boat but no other sign of him.

Littleton Fire Rescue divers, park rangers and Douglas and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies searched for Cano on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Cano, who is from Mexico City and has a wife and 5-year-old daughter there, had remodeled homes in the United States for more than three years.
