Patrick Grady shot an eagle on the first playoff hole Sunday to win the CGA Public Links Championship at Highland Meadows Golf Course.
The University of Colorado golfer became the first player to win the CGA Public Links, Match Play (2005) and Stroke Play (2006) Championships.
Grady began the final round five strokes behind Michael Baird and closed with a 6-under-par 65 to finish at 202.
Baird missed a 12-foot putt on the 18th hole for a birdie that would have won the tournament. He made par to finish the final round with a 70, tying Grady at 202 and forcing a playoff.
Louisville Slugger salutes Colorado prep stars
Cole Leonida, a catcher who recently graduated from Grandview and is bound for Georgia Tech, has been named a Louisville Slugger High School All-American.
Leonida helped lead Grandview to the Class 5A Centennial League baseball championship in the spring.
Highlands Ranch catcher Zach Blakeley and Rocky Mountain junior shortstop Andy Burns received honorable-mention recognition.
Burns was named The Denver Post 2007 player of the year. Leonida made the All-Colorado team. Blakeley was 5A all-state honorable mention.
This marked the 11th year Louisville Slugger has sponsored the High School All-Americans as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Wyoming picks up three commitments
Two linemen and a wide receiver have made oral commitments to play for the Wyoming football team after they graduate from high school next year.
Dylan Kildahl, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from Highland High School in Ault; Jim Downs, a 6-6, 260-pound offensive tackle from Glenrock (Wyo.) High School; and Justin Morgan, a 6-2, 187-pound receiver from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, say they will sign national letters of intent to play for the Cowboys.
Kildahl also was recruited by Kansas State and Colorado State. High school seniors planning to play college football can’t sign letters of intent until next February.
