Mountainboarding has fought for respect for years. Professional riders have ripped themselves to pieces searching for the spotlight that bathes their ramp-riding kin. While the dirt-riding sport has struggled to grab a significant sliver of skateboarding’s adoration and popularity, its contests are unquestionably spectacular. Saturday, the tight and tiny band of the world’s best mountainboarders will gather at Clear Creek County’s Echo Mountain Park for the U.S. Slopestyle Mountainboarding Championships. A series of ramps and rails scattered along a swift descent will send riders airborne and deliver some equally awesome action. Pro and open classes will compete on different courses. Get there — From Denver, head west on Interstate 70, exit Evergreen Parkway (Colorado 74), turning right on Squaw Pass Road (Highway 103) for 11 miles
