Getting your player ready...
This week, our poetic contributors were
apparently quite happy to reflect on the miles of ribbon road, the sights, the sounds and the nasty backseat smells of the classic Colorado road trip. Our favorite entry to The Denver Post’s $25 Haiku contest came from Daniel Angel Martinez of Denver:
such a big city
I reduce to postcard size
in rear view mirror
You can read the rest of the entries – and there were a lot – at And if they make you feel like you’ve got something to say in 5-7-5 poetry form, enter a one-stanza haiku at lifestyle@denverpost.com or file it at Our favorite wins a gift certificate to the Tattered Cover Book Store.
This week’s topic: Fireworks.
The deadline is midnight Thursday. Good luck, and start writing.
