Out-of-pocket costs for University of Colorado at Boulder students would increase 9.8 percent if a proposal the regents are set to mull over Wednesday is approved.

The plan also calls for a 7.7 percent boost in out-of-pocket costs for students at the Colorado Springs campus and 6.6 percent at the Denver campus.

CU would see a 6.5 percent increase in overall revenue under the proposal, which regents are expected to decide on Thursday.

“We think we have to do this to provide a role that is very significant to the state,” said Robert Moore, vice president of budget and finance.

He said the proposed budget is the healthiest since 2002, when the university faced widespread cuts.

Last week, Colorado State University approved a budget that President Larry Penley called “the healthiest budget CSU has had in 15 years.”
