A month after dominating Humberto Toledo in a 12-round unanimous decision at the Broomfield Event Center, Stevie Johnston has found his next opponent. Johnston, the IBA lightweight champion, will defend his title Aug. 11 against Rolando Reyes at the Pepsi Center, according to The winner will also take home the vacant IBO lightweight belt.
Silverhawk Boxing scheduled a news conference for Friday to announce the matchup.
Johnston, who was a WBC lightweight champion, said in May that he hoped to fight one of the three top-ranked lightweights in the world, but will settle for Reyes, ranked 15th at Reyes, 28, is 28-4-2 with 18 knockouts.
Johnston, 34, holds a 41-4-1 record with 18 knockouts.
It will be the first time Johnston has fought at the Pepsi Center since fighting Jose Luis Castillo to a draw in 2000 in a failed attempt to regain the WBC lightweight title.
