GREELEY, Colo.—Two people killed in the fiery crash of a light plane were believed to be from Colorado and Arizona, authorities said.

The victims’ names may not be released for another day or two, Weld County coroner’s investigator Corinna Pina-Belmarez said.

The plane crashed Monday near the Greeley-Weld County Airport. The cause was under investigation, but witnesses told sheriff’s deputies the plane appeared to have mechanical trouble and was descending when it hit a power line before crashing.

Pina-Belmarez said one victim was believed to be from Brighton, about 30 miles south of Greeley. She did not say where in Arizona the second victim was believed to be from.
