New York – Tom Glavine earned his 297th win, pitching a one-hitter for six innings in a rain-shortened shutout to lead the New York Mets past the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0 on Wednesday night.

David Wright hit a two-run homer off winless Anthony Reyes in the first, and the NL East leaders made it stand up for their fifth victory in six games.

Scott Rolen’s second-inning infield single was the only hit off Glavine (7-5), who walked two and struck out one in his 25th shutout. After walking Aaron Miles with two outs in the second, Glavine retired his final 13 batters.

The 41-year-old left-hander threw his 56th complete game and first since a two-hit shutout of Colorado on Sept. 29, 2005. He also improved to 20-6 in 37 starts against St. Louis.

BREWERS 6, ASTROS 3 (11) at Milwaukee: Damian Miller hit his first homer of the season, a three-run shot that sailed into the Milwaukee bullpen in the 11th inning, and the Brewers finished up an 8-1 homestand.

Miller launched a one-out homer to left-center field that was speared on the fly by Brewers bullpen catcher Marcus Hanel. It was the second game-ending homer of Miller’s career, with the other coming in 2000 for Arizona.

“I was looking not to strike out, basically,” Miller said.

DIAMONDBACKS 2, DODGERS 0 at Phoenix: Brandon Webb (8-5) threw seven shutout innings, Chad Tracy hit a sacrifice fly and Eric Byrnes singled in a run as Arizona beat Los Angeles for only the second time in eight games.

BRAVES 13, NATIONALS 0 at Atlanta: Chipper Jones drove in four runs to back a strong start from John Smoltz (9-4), helping Atlanta sweep the three-game series.

REDS 9, PHILLIES 6 at Philadelphia: Javier Valentin hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the eighth inning and Adam Dunn added a two-run homer as Cincinnati overcame Ryan Howard’s 100th career homer.

PIRATES 7, MARLINS 5 (10) at Miami: Xavier Nady and Ryan Doumit hit back-to-back home runs with two outs in the 10th inning and Pittsburgh won back-to- back road games for the first time in a month.
