The Colorado Rapids today sent defender Greg Vanney to D.C. United in a trade for Argentine defender Facundo Erpen, the team said.
Erpen, who joined Major League Soccer’s D.C. United in 2005, has been an anchor on the team’s back line. He started in 33 games last season; this season, he has two assists in 11 starts.
Erpen will fill one of the Rapids’ international roster spots.
The Rapids grabbed Vanney in a 2006 trade with FC Dallas. He’s played in nine games with the Rapids this season.

Also, Outlaws players Trevor Tierney, Jeff Sonke and Lee Zink were named to the Major League Lacrosse Western Conference All-Star team.
The All-Star game will be July 8 at Harvard Stadium in Boston. The all-stars were voted on by coaches, general managers and players.
