DENVER—The Denver Broncos have signed four free agents who competed in NFL Europa, including offensive lineman Emmanuel Akah, a native of London.
The Broncos also signed cornerback Bill Alford (Frankfurt Galaxy), cornerback Kevin House (Cologne Centurions) and tackle Cliff Washburn (Hamburg Sea Devils).
Akah, a 6-foot-3, 330-pound left guard, also played for the league champion Galaxy. He competed in the Miami Dolphins’ training camp last season after playing three years at Winston-Salem State University.
Alford (5-9, 183) played two years at Vanderbilt and was in Baltimore’s training camp in 2005 and Atlanta’s last season but didn’t make either roster. House (6-0, 185) is a fourth-year player who played in 16 games for San Diego in 2002-03 and was out of the NFL last season.
Washburn (6-5, 305) was on the rosters of Dallas and Minnesota in the offseason leading up to the 2006 season after competing on Chicago’s practice squad in 2004 and ’04. He played one season at The Citadel after playing four years of college basketball.
