Quarterback John Dutton and the Colorado Crush have agreed to a three-year contract that will extend Dutton’s time with the Crush through the 2010 season.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Dutton and coach Mike Dailey were pleased with the deal.
“John Dutton has won a lot to games for us, and we’re excited to have him,” Dailey said. “We’ve been negotiating with him for a while. He’s the kind of person we want in our program. Now, we’re going to do what we have to do to improve as a team.”
Dutton became the Crush’s quarterback in its expansion year in 2003. He lost the starting job for a brief time in the 2003 season, but came back and led the Crush to the ArenaBowl championship in 2005. In 2007, Dutton posted career highs with 645 passing attempts and 396 completions. He also surrendered a career-high 17 interceptions. His 84 touchdowns were his third-best total.
“As long as they want me here, I want to be here,” Dutton said. “It feels good, especially going into the offseason, with everything being done. We have some other players we hope to get signed. We don’t want to rebuild again.”
