Marian Dalmy, a four-year starter at Santa Clara after a stellar prep career at Green Mountain High School, is one of 18 players named by coach Greg Ryan to the U.S. women’s national soccer team for its July 14 (ESPN2, 4 p.m.) match vs. Norway in East Hartford, Conn.

The match is the first of the “Send-Off Series” as the team prepares for September’s World Cup in China. Dalmy, a defender, made the team after taking part in the team’s residency training camp this year.

14ers stick with same parent teams

The NBA announced the Colorado 14ers NBADL team will have the same three affiliates as last season: the Nuggets, the Toronto Raptors and the New Jersey Nets.

Rage signs CHL stalwart

The Broomfield-based Rocky Mountain Rage of the Central Hockey League signed Brent Cullaton to play and be an assistant coach next season. The right winger was the captain for Laredo from 2003-06, helping the Bucks win CHL titles in 2004 and 2006. He played in the United Hockey League this past season.

“Brent’s championship experience speaks for itself,” Rage coach Tracy Egeland said. “He’s the type of player winning teams are built around.”

Cullaton is already assisting Egeland in recruiting players, and will have various other coaching duties as well.

Ziegler eliminated at North & South

Recent Legacy High School graduate Steve Ziegler of Broomfield lost his third-round match at the North & South Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, falling 4 and 3 to Phillip Mollica of Anderson, S.C.
