Chandler Grafner died of dehydration and starvation, according to a Denver coroner’s report released today.
The 7-year-old boy who weighed only 34 pounds at the time of his death May 6 went into cardiac arrest and couldn’t be resuscitated, the report said.
Brnchopneumonia also contributed to the death, the report said.
Jon Phillips, Chandler’s legal guardian, and his common-law wife, Sarah Berry, were caring for the boy after he was taken from Phillips’ estranged girlfriend, police said.
Phillips and Berry face first-degree murder charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for both of them Wednesday.
