Pedregons lead NHRA community car wash
Tony Pedregon and Cruz Pedregon, who are among the top nitro funny car drivers on the NHRA circuit, will team up for a free community car wash to benefit local charities Thursday in Denver.
The Pedregon brothers, who will compete in the Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison beginning Friday, will help give free car washes while collecting donations at Advance Auto Parts, located at 5496 Federal Blvd. in Denver.
Sky Sox’s Smith earns PCL plaudit
Colorado Springs Sky Sox outfielder Seth Smith was named the Pacific Coast League batter of the week. Smith hit three home runs, had seven RBIs and hit .462 with 12 hits during seven games last week. He is hitting .309 with eight homers and 46 RBIs this season, his first in Triple-A.
Weston highlights field in state Match Play
The Colorado Golf Association’s Match Play Championship begins today at Bear Creek Golf Club, with Aaron Weston of Meridian Golf Club attempting to defend his title. Weston, who has the No. 1 seed and was exempt from qualifying, will face current University of Colorado player Michael Baird, who had the low qualifying round, a 5-under-par 67, to earn the second seed.
Drew Stoltz of Fort Collins is the third seed, and the fourth seed is current CGA Junior Stroke Play champion Mark Hubbard.
Kresock tops first round of Junior Stroke Play
Elizabeth Kresock of Pinehurst Country Club leads after Monday’s first round of the 2007 CWGA Junior Stroke Play Championship at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. Kresock finished with a 2-under-par 70, five strokes ahead of Leslie McGetrick of Colorado Golf Club.
