VAIL, Colo.—A bomb scare that prompted officials to close part of this resort town’s transportation center ended when bomb technicians discovered two jars of salsa inside a suspicious package Thursday.
Police said the small box was wrapped in duct tape and contained no shipping information, said Officer Jim Applegate of the Vail Police Department.
No evacuations were ordered during the nearly two hours it took police to send in a bomb-sniffing dog and for police to open the package.
“It turned out it was a package of salsa someone was shipping to a friend,” Applegate said.
No one has claimed the salsa.
