Kersey – A Greeley teenager died after a three-car crash on U.S. 34 and Weld County Road 53 in Kersey this morning.

Seth Walters, of Greeley, was pronounced dead on the scene after his 1984 gold Toyota Camry was struck on the right side by a 2002 white GMC truck.

The 16-year-old was crossing U.S. 34 traveling south on the county road when he was hit by the truck, which was traveling east on the highway. The Toyota then crashed into a 1995 gray Saturn stopped at a northbound WCR 53 stop sign.

The impact between the GMC truck and Toyota caused the truck to roll slightly and lay over on its left side, said Master Trooper Ron Watkins of the Colorado State Patrol.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected and all occupants were wearing seat belts, officials at the state patrol said.

The driver of the GMC truck, 19-year-old Brandon Brewer of Fort Collins, was taken to North Colorado Medical Center along with two male passengers where they were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Saturn, 48-year-old Brian Mitchell of Kersey, was not injured, Watkins said.
