Steamboat Springs kicker Ben DeLine is one Colorado State recruit who can truly say he was born to be a Ram.

“I gave birth to him the same day we went to a CSU game,” said his mother, Karen DeLine.

Ben’s father, Steve, is a former CSU kicker whose 60-yard field goal against Air Force in 1985 is the second longest in school history. After two seasons in the NFL, the senior DeLine returned to ranching and helps coach at Steamboat Springs High School.

“I grew up with uprights in my backyard made of big wood posts,” Ben DeLine said. “I never went to a kicking camp, because I have the greatest teacher in my dad.”

DeLine also wrestled at 152 pounds.

Recruits can orally commit at any time but can’t sign a letter of intent until February.

lists two other CSU summer commitments expected to sign in February. Durango defensive tackle Jake Landers, 6-feet-4, 270 pounds, is the younger brother of CSU junior defensive end Wade Landers. Anthony Hooks, a 5-11, 150-pound cornerback from Phoenix Brophy Prep, is the first out-of-stater on CSU’s list.
