Washington – Brian Fuentes rejoined the Rockies today but was not immediately activated. On the lineup posted, he was not listed among the available relievers.
Fuentes said that he still feels a little tightness in his lat muscle underneath his left throwing arm, the injury that landed him on the disabled list.
So all signs point to the team taking precautions before he would return to the bullpen.
Fuentes threw well in his one rehab appearance earlier this week, but the Rockies were waiting to see how his arm responded over the last few days.
He won’t be activated until he’s pain-free, since the Rockies will need him to be available on consecutive days.
Manny Corpas has taken over the closer’s role from Fuentes and posted three saves.
