DENVER—In a July 19 story about a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would define a fertilized human egg as a person, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the state Initiative Title Setting Review Board had written the amendment. The board wrote only a title for the amendment that would appear on the ballot. The story also incorrectly referred to the board as “the secretary of state’s three-person title board.” The deputy secretary of state is chairman of the board, but it also includes representatives of the attorney general’s office and the Legislature’s Committee on Legal Services.
